GESIA in association with Icreo Kaizer and Pinsoftek InfoSolutionsorganized an Interactive Session on Social Media in Politics & Opportunities for IT Industry by Dr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, In-Charge of Overseas Friends of BJP (OFBJP) and Head of Foreign Affairs, Bhartiya Janta Party – On 1st July 2015 at 5.30 pm onwards – At, H. T. Parekh Hall, AMA, Ahmedabad. The event was supported by Indo American Chamber of Commerce, Indo Canadian Business Chamber and the British Business Group – Gujarat.

Dr. Chauthaiwale has the onus of effectively using Social Media in Lok Sabha elections in 2014, which saw a thumping majority for BJP. As we all know social media which included Facebook, Twitter, SMS, hoardings, Electronic Media etc. had significant contribution in giving impetus to the campaign. Prior to the event a closed group comprising of GESIA Board Members and Advisors had a meeting with Dr. Chauthaiwale in the board room at AMA to for future scope of more events related to the IT Industry in Gujarat. Many luminaries like Mr. Sunil Parekh, Advisor – GESIA, Mr. Sunil Shah – Chairman, Gujarat Innovation Society, Mr. Sam Marshall Israel Delegate and several other industry big wigs attended this meeting. Many suggestions were made to give thrust to the ideas.

Dr. Chauthaiwale shared his experience in dealing with the subject and also briefed about the misconceptions related to Social Media. He expressed that Social Media Marketing has evolved as a huge industry by itself today and this is the area where business opportunities exist for IT players. The capacity audience comprising of CEOs, SEO teams and Marketing personnel from IT companies enjoyed listening to the expert speaker. Mr. Jay Ruparel, President – GESIA welcomed the audience and briefed them about the Guest – Mr. Chauthaiwale. Mz. Rama Mundra welcomed the speaker on the dais.
